Miriam Grignani has be recognised in the 2020 Hall of Fame.
Miriam Grignani (ITA) made a significant mark on the European competitive scene in the 1980s. She is notably recognised for her success in Formula 1 waterski racing, where she won the European Championship title in 1984 and again in 1985, adding to an earlier continental title and establishing a strong legacy in the sport. Grignani was one of the pioneering female competitors, becoming the first woman to win three European Championship titles in waterski racing — a record she held until the year 2000. Her achievements demonstrated both her individual talent and the growing prominence of women in a discipline traditionally dominated by male racers.
In addition to her European titles, Grignani also attained success on the world stage, securing a bronze medal at the 1983 World Championships, further underscoring her competitive calibre against the globe’s best racers. Grignani’s contributions to waterski racing in the 1980s helped pave the way for future generations of female athletes in the sport, and her continental victories remain a highlight in the historical records of European Formula 1 waterski racing.
